Cookie notice
Which cookies we use and how to control them.
Our approach
We only use non-essential cookies, such as analytics and marketing cookies, if you agree. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and nothing is pre-selected. We ask you to renew your choice at least every 6 months, in line with Data Protection Commission guidance.
Types of cookies
- Strictly necessary: needed for the site and your choices to work; no consent needed
- Analytics: help us understand how the site is used; only with consent
- Marketing: measure and improve our advertising; only with consent
Strictly necessary cookies
- wf_consent (Welcome Finance): remembers your cookie choice; up to 6 months
- payload-token (Welcome Finance): keeps our own staff signed in to the website's editing area; set only for staff, never for visitors
- Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare): checks that a form is sent by a person, not a bot; it does not track you for advertising
Analytics cookies (only if you accept)
- _ga and _ga_<ID> (Google Analytics, Google): count visits and show which pages are used; up to 2 years
- _clck, _clsk and CLID (Microsoft Clarity, Microsoft): show how pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling; 1 day to 1 year
Marketing cookies (only if you accept)
- _gcl_au (Google Ads, Google): measures visits and enquiries from our Google adverts; 90 days
- _fbp and _fbc (Meta Pixel, Meta): measure visits and enquiries from our Facebook and Instagram adverts; 90 days
- li_sugr, bcookie, lidc, UserMatchHistory and AnalyticsSyncHistory (LinkedIn Insight Tag, LinkedIn): measure our LinkedIn adverts; 1 day to 1 year
Keeping this list up to date
We only use a tool listed above when we have switched it on, and we update this list whenever we add or remove one. Google, Microsoft, Meta and LinkedIn may process data in the United States; see our privacy notice.
Changing your choice
Use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page to change your choice at any time. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.
Cookie notice: FAQs
Do you use cookies without my consent?
Only strictly necessary cookies, such as wf_consent, which remembers your cookie choice, and Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a form is sent by a person. Analytics and marketing cookies are only set if you accept them. Nothing is pre-selected, and rejecting is as easy as accepting.
Which cookies do you use?
If you reject non-essential cookies, only strictly necessary ones are used. If you accept, we may also use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used, and Google Ads, Meta Pixel and LinkedIn Insight Tag to measure our adverts. This page lists each cookie, its provider and how long it lasts.
How do I change my cookie choice?
Use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page to change or withdraw your choice at any time. Withdrawing consent stops new non-essential cookies being set. You can also delete existing cookies in your browser settings. Changing your choice does not affect how the site works for you.
Will rejecting cookies stop the site working?
No. Every page, calculator and form works without analytics or marketing cookies. Rejecting them only means we cannot measure how the site is used or how our adverts perform. Strictly necessary cookies stay on, because the site needs them to remember your choice and protect forms from bots.
How long does my cookie choice last?
Up to 6 months. After that we ask you again, in line with Data Protection Commission guidance that consent should be renewed regularly. You can change your choice sooner at any time using the Cookie settings link, and the wf_consent cookie that stores it expires after 6 months.
Do cookies send my data outside the EU?
Only if you accept analytics or marketing cookies. Google, Microsoft, Meta and LinkedIn may then process data in the United States. Each takes part in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission recognises as giving adequate protection; otherwise Standard Contractual Clauses apply. Our privacy notice has more detail.
