Finance finder: common questions

What is the finance finder?

A free tool that filters every type of business finance on our site by what your company needs, how much, how long it has been trading and whether you can offer security. It shows which products could fit, with typical amounts, terms and how they work, so you can read up before you apply.

Does the finance finder mean I will be approved?

No. It matches products to your answers using typical criteria only. Each lender makes its own decision after assessing your company’s accounts, bank statements and credit history, and approval is never guaranteed. Amounts, terms and speeds shown are typical and not guaranteed, so use the results as a starting point.

Can Welcome Finance arrange every product the finder shows?

No. The finder covers the full range of business finance used in Ireland, including SBCI loans, which Welcome Finance does not arrange. Tell us what your company needs and we’ll tell you honestly whether our panel can help, or where to apply instead.

Does using the finance finder affect my credit record?

No. The finder runs in your browser, nothing you enter is saved, and it involves no credit search and nothing recorded on the Central Credit Register. Lenders only search the Register if your company applies to them, and each search leaves an enquiry on your report.

Can a start-up or sole trader use the finance finder?

Anyone can use the finder to learn about products. Start-ups registered as limited companies in Ireland can apply through Welcome Finance, although most lenders look for some trading history, so options may be fewer. Sole traders and partnerships cannot apply. Your Local Enterprise Office, Microfinance Ireland, Enterprise Ireland or your own bank can help with other funding.
