Editorial policy
How the Welcome Finance editorial team researches, checks and updates our content.
Research and editorial team
Our guides are researched and written by the Welcome Finance editorial team. We check facts against official sources such as the Central Bank of Ireland, Revenue, the Companies Registration Office, the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI), Enterprise Ireland, the Local Enterprise Offices and the Irish Statute Book, review each guide against this editorial policy before it is published, and update it when the rules change.
Accuracy
We base figures on primary sources: lenders' own published information, Revenue, the Central Bank, the CSO, the SBCI, SEAI and government departments. Each page lists its sources and the date they were checked.
Independence
Our content explains options fairly, including costs, risks and alternatives. Commission never decides what we write.
How we use AI tools
We may use AI tools to help with research, drafting and checking. A member of our team reviews every page against the primary sources listed on it before it is published. We never use AI to invent facts, figures, examples or reviews.
If anything on a page is wrong, we correct it promptly. Tell us at support@welcomefinance.ie.
Dates on our guides
The published date is when a guide first went live. The “last reviewed” date is when we last checked every fact in it against its sources. Each guide also has a next-review date, and we review it sooner when rules, rates or schemes change.
Updates
We review pages when rules, rates or schemes change, and at least every 6 months. Figures that change often, such as interest rates, are dated so you can see how current they are.
Illustrative examples
Where an example helps, we label it clearly as an illustrative example, use round numbers and work it out with the same maths our calculators use. Examples are not real clients. We do not publish client stories, testimonials or deal statistics.
Corrections
If you spot an error, email support@welcomefinance.ie with the page address and what you think is wrong. We check it against the primary source, correct the page promptly if needed, update its review date and reply to let you know what we changed.
Editorial policy: FAQs
Where do your figures come from?
From primary sources: Revenue, the Central Bank of Ireland, the CSO, the SBCI, SEAI, the CRO, government departments such as the Department of Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, and lenders’ own published information. Each guide lists its sources and the date they were checked.
How often is content updated?
We review pages when rules, rates or schemes change, and at least every 6 months. Each guide shows when it was last reviewed. Figures that change often, such as interest rates, are dated so you can see how current they are.
Is your content financial advice?
No. Our guides and product pages are general information about business finance in Ireland. They are not financial, tax or legal advice and do not take account of your company’s circumstances. Speak to your accountant or solicitor before acting on them.
Do lenders pay for or approve your content?
No. Lenders do not pay for, write or approve our guides. Commission never decides what we write. We explain products we cannot arrange, such as SBCI loans, as fairly as those we can, including costs, risks and alternatives.
Do you use AI to write your guides?
We may use AI tools to help with research, drafting and checking, but a member of our team reviews every page against the primary sources listed on it before it is published. AI is never used to invent facts, figures, examples or reviews. If you find an error, email support@welcomefinance.ie and we will correct it promptly.
Do you use real client stories or examples?
We do not publish client stories, testimonials or deal statistics. Where an example helps, we label it clearly as an illustrative example and use round numbers, worked out with the same maths our calculators use. Nothing on the site is presented as a real client’s result.
How do I report an error?
Email support@welcomefinance.ie with the page address and what you think is wrong. We check it against the primary source and correct the page if needed, updating the review date. We are grateful for every correction, large or small, and reply to let you know what we changed.
